Stricter requirements and a surge in requests for information have doubled the processing time for projects

Various factors have had a direct impact on evaluation timelines. According to Environmental Impact Assessment System (SEIA) statistics, over the past eight years there has been a significant increase in the length of the reports compiling initial observations and requests—which are essential for confirming the progress of a project entering the evaluation phase.

Our director Bernardita Calvo Urrutia highlights that there is a direct relationship between the increased number of requirements and the length of processing times, which goes beyond the “quality” of the initial information.
